We would like to welcome you to East Meets West: The Art and Science of Dermatology. This programme grew out of Virtual Grand Rounds in Dermatology which we started in 2000 as a means to encourage collegial discussion of challenging and instructional cases. MRSA (methicillin-resistant Satph aureus) has been getting a lot of press lately. It is important to realize that "while MRSA clearly can kill, it rarely does so when contracted in the general public, where it typically appears as an easily treatable skin infection. The vast majority of lethal cases occur in hospitals and nursing homes, where open wounds and punctures provide the opportunistic staph a ready path to the bloodstream and organs. So, do not panic! We will add to this periodically.
