Masks, Covid and Facial Dermatoses

Studies have shown that increased wearing of facial PPE during the Covid pandemic leads to an amplified prevalence of allergic contact dermatitis, irritant contact dermatitis, pressure-related skin injury, and worsening of underlying dermatoses such as acne and rosacea.

In the rush to publication, these articles leave something to be desired. However, here are some that may provide some answers.

Spironolactone is a safe, effective long-term alternative to systemic antibiotics for the treatment of acne in adolescent women. The article’s authors are pediatric dermatologists at the Mayo Clinic.
