Tianeptine, aka Gas Station Heroin, sold under the brand names Stablon, Tatinol, and Coaxil among others, is an atypical tricyclic antidepressant that is used mainly in the treatment of major depressive disorder, although it may also be used to treat anxiety, asthma, and irritable bowel syndrome. It is also a weight loss drug sold as a food supplement in the U.S. Tiantepine has an addictive quality as discussed in a February 2024 PBS Newshour report.
