Our healthcare system instead of quelling anxiety, often fuels it. Anxiety in patients can get worse when met with an anxious doctor. Shouldn’t we be researching what kind of environments make us more relaxed and less distressed? As physicians, we should turn our attention to the causes and effects of our iatrogenic anxieties.
