Lice Aunties

We heard about Lice Aunties from a patient who took her daughter there.  She thought the care given there was great!  If you live within driving distance, and your child has a difficult case of head lice, Lice Aunties should be considered.

Between six million and 12 million children a year become infected with lice, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. The tiny bugs, no bigger than a sesame seed, spread easily among children ages 3 to 11, who are likely to come into close head-to-head contact with one another or share hats, headbands and the like."

Head Lice: Wet Combing

German scientists examined 304 children at five primary schools that reported persistent head lice infestations. First, a researcher examined their scalps, parting the hair at five places where eggs or lice are often found. Then a different investigator, unaware of the results of the first test, examined the same children, this time wetting the hair with conditioner and running a fine-tooth comb from the scalp to the end of the hair.  The results appear in the March issue of The Archives of Dermatology.

Head Lice

Pediatrician, Melanie Austin has a non-toxic over the counter approach for head lice.  It's time intensive but spares your child or you exposure to toxic chemicals.
